After centuries of artistic evolution Sorolla’s generation of painters represented the zenith of art. And probably Sorolla was the best. That explains why he met such an overwhelming international succes. Nevertheless, aesthetic trends changed dramatically, and they were forgotten in the art world. However, the public never ignored him presumably because of the way he created light would touch their hearts. Popular taste would lead again to his recognition by critics and historians. This evidence disproves one of the most widespread clichés in the history of art.
